An action-packed crime drama game

Rockstar Games takes players once again to the world of crime with its new offering, Grand Theft Auto V. The latest main entry since 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV, this action-adventure game will focus on the crime tales of three thugs working together to complete missions. It also takes you back to the infamous San Andreas, which hails back to the GTA title of the same name. GTA V is an action game featuring a giant sandbox world with hundreds of unique locations.

What's new in GTA V?

Gamers who knew older GTA versions will find the GTA 5 very familiar. Like its predecessors, its career mode will have various missions that will also act as a backbone for the storyline. You must complete quests in a sequence to advance the story. Almost every mission follows an objective—driving to a location, killing armed men, gathering information, and returning to your safe house. There are also side quests and ventures that you can do to make money, which you can use to buy upgrades.

The game follows three protagonists: Michael, Trevor, and Franklin. Each has his introduction. However, as they begin working, their plots will combine for one long campaign story. GTA 5 allows players to switch between the three heroes, unlike other titles, which makes you see how the story unfolds from three perspectives. Switching characters is simple. You only need to click on the round choice panel and make the switch. Aside from that, the game also allows you to change between first-person to third-person POV.

Moreover, the game also made changes to the combat system. It enriched weapon choices and included customization of arms to boost the overall experience. It is also less clunky and more fun to use as compared to the previous titles. There is also a visible difference in driving as vehicles do not appear heavy, and steering is easier. However, fans of other GTA games will find this change disappointing and less realistic.

Feeling lost?

Grand Theft Auto V, like its predecessors, bombards players with on-screen tutorial messages and help prompts. Don't fret if you miss them; they're easily accessible in the pause menu's "Brief" section under "Help" and "Notifications." For dialogue, enable subtitles to catch every word.

GTA V offers unprecedented freedom in mission progression. Tackle them in any order as they become available. Multiple missions will always be accessible, and heist missions are replayable for diverse approaches. Nothing is permanently locked off. Post-game, revisit any missed quests or mini-games.

Most major missions are restricted to specific characters, necessitating frequent switching. Thankfully, these transitions are swift. Each character brings unique perspectives and entertaining transitional sequences.

Color-coded mission icons on the map indicate which character can initiate them. Large icons signal availability, while small ones indicate otherwise.

Never miss a mission again

Significant missions appear as capital letters on the map and mini-map, while "strangers and freaks" sidequests appear as question marks. These are easily replayable. Blue-dot missions, scattered throughout the world, offer smaller-scale narratives and long-term consequences, like gaining heist partners or stock market tips. Some blue-dot missions have fixed locations, while others are random. Mini-map flashes signal new blue-dot missions.

GTA V presents lucrative moneymaking opportunities. Each character has a separate bank account and can buy and sell stocks on two exchanges:

  • Liberty City National Exchange
  • BAWSAQ

The former is internally controlled, while the latter is influenced by player actions through Rockstar Social Club. Stock values fluctuate based on in-game events and player actions.

Pay attention to in-game hints and prompts regarding stock values. Fake radio news broadcasts provide market updates. Some random missions introduce characters offering stock tips. Assassination missions from Lester explicitly inform you how stock values will be affected by your actions. Listen closely and invest accordingly.

How do you make money in GTA V?

Don't stress about the stock market. Missions provide ample funds for taxis, guns, armor, and car modifications. While you may not afford the most expensive properties and vehicles, this doesn't hinder gameplay.

Character-specific stats improve based on usage. Driving, fighting, or running increase the respective stat. Most improvements occur naturally. Focus on upgrading the driving stat, as it enhances car handling. Practice driving to improve, and utilize Franklin's driving skill for sharp turns.

In-game mobile phones receive emails and texts. While texts are unresponsive, many emails can be replied to. A green reply button indicates reply options. Replying triggers email chains that flesh out characters' lives.

GTA V characters are chatty. When encountering ongoing conversations, stick around to listen. You'll be surprised by the depth and variety of dialogue.

Seek out and complete the sidequests offered by Dom. These missions push the boundaries of extreme action.

Experiment with triggering missions using different characters. Some sidequest givers offer unique missions for each lead character, showcasing their distinct personalities.

By following these tips and strategies, you'll not only navigate Los Santos with ease but also fully immerse yourself in Grand Theft Auto V’s universe.

A cesspool of events and fun

Excitement looms, thanks to Grand Theft Auto V’s newest events. To celebrate Lunar New Year, Carnival, and Valentine’s Day simultaneously, the action-adventure game will be generously doling out rewards and bonuses. Players who log in during the event duration will unlock the Regal Dragon Mask and Midnight Dragon Mask. Those who have missed the previous event’s rewards Wooden Dragon Mask, Red Lunar New Year Dress, and Black Lunar New Year Tee can get another shot at claiming them.

Everyday Red Envelopes are another bonus that can be claimed upon login, and these amount to GTA$ 188,888 apiece. Finally, players who participate in the Diamond Casino Heist during the event period have a chance to find diamonds in the vault.

Is GTA V good?

Like its predecessors, Grand Theft Auto V is undeniably an entertaining title. It managed to bring everything that fans loved about the franchise while bringing something new to the table. It doesn't only present an open-world, but also offers more freedom in choosing your desired path and customization. There are some changes that hardcore fans would find off-putting. However, all in all, this game will live up to the players' expectations
